VATICAN - Pope John Paul has written to President Boris Yeltsin expressing deep concern over a legislative measure to curb the rights of minority religions in Russia, the Vatican said yesterday.

Vatican sources said the Pope, who is holidaying in the northern Italian Alps, expressed concern that Catholicism would suffer discrimination if Mr Yeltsin signed the measure into law. - (Reuter)
