Vandals threw a rock at the house of Sinn Féin Assembly member Mitchel McLaughlin early this morning.
A rock was thrown at the window at the front of the Derry property at around 5am. Mr McLaughlin was woken by the noise, but nobody was injured.
The window was reinforced and didn’t completely break.
“Anybody who has to come in the dark of night to put a brick through anyone’s window can’t be described as anything other than a coward,” he said.
“As I understand it there was a number of other incidents last night so there are clearly people running around up to mischief. If the intention was to intimidate people then they need to learn it’s not going to work.”
Mr McLaughlin's home has been attacked before and he has previously been warned of a threat to his life.
“These things happen, it seems to go with the territory of trying to make politics work,” he added.
