Vandals broke a dozen windows in an attack on the Rev Ian Paisley's Martyr's Memorial Free Presbyterian Church on the Ravenhill Road in east Belfast today.

The damage, put at more than £1,000, was discovered this afternoon by the church caretaker. The PSNI appealed for any witnesses to the attack to contact them.

The attack is the latest in a growing cycle on places of worship in Northern Ireland.

A Methodist Church was attacked two nights running in north Belfast by paint bombers this week and catholic churches have been repeatedly attacked in Mr Paisley's North Antrim constituency.

There was no immediate comment from Mr Paisley.
