One US soldier was killed and two were wounded in a gun attack on their base northeast of Baghdad, Iraq, the US army said today.
A military spokesman said the soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division were attacked at about 11.45 p.m. (8.45 p.m. Irish time) yesterday.
The death brings to 51 the number of US soldiers killed by attacks since Washington declared major combat over on May 1st. In the last two weeks, 18 have been killed.
