Washington - The US population increased to 281.4 million in 2000, a 13.2 per cent jump since the last count 10 years ago, the Census Bureau announced yesterday. Giving state-by-state totals, the Census Bureau also provided details of the apportionment to the 50 states of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, which is determined by the once-a-decade head count.
