US airlines received a cash injection from the US government last night under a $2.3 billion reimbursement package for security costs incurred after September 11th.

The airlines received a $1.266 billion cash disbursement from the government, the

Financial Times

reported today.

According to the report Delta Air Lines recouped $390 million, AMR Corp's American Airlines received $360.9 million, United Airlines $300.2 million and US Airways Group $216 million.

The funding programme was approved by US Congress last month.
