London - Nursing unions welcomed yesterday's 12 per cent pay rise for new nurses but warned that the 4.7 per cent increase for more senior colleagues may not be enough to solve the NHS staffing crisis.
The Health Secretary, Mr Frank Dobson, said the huge pay award meant more than two thirds of nurses would be earning £20,000 or more from April 1st.
