Ultimatum as battle rages

RABAT, Afghanistan - The ousted government military chief, Gen Ahmad Shah Masood, told Taliban fighters yesterday to quit the Afghan capital as newfound allies in his battle against the Islamic militia came under heavy fire. Forces loyal to Gen Abdul Rashid Dostum were pounded by Taliban mortars, soon after joining Gen Masood's front line north of Kabul.
