University College Cork (UCC) and the Irish Management Institute (IMI) said today they have begun talks about a possible merger.
In as statement issued this morning, UCC president Dr Michael Murphy said that a merger would strengthen the capacity of both organisations and allow for enhanced collaboration between higher education institutions.
The IMI, which is based in Sandyford, Dublin, is considered to be one of the leading institutes for training managers and is currently the only Irish institution included in the
Financial Timeslist of top international executive education programmes.
Both organisations said no further comment will be made during the negotiations.
