GAA:Tyrone's Dr McKenna Cup game will go ahead as planned this weekend. The decision to stage the match has received the blessing of manager Mickey Harte, who is grieving the death of his daughter Michaela.
Tyrone are due to take on Fermanagh in in Eniskillen on Sunday. However, should Michaela’s body arrive home in the interim from Mauritius, where she was murdered while on honeymoon, the game will be called off.
The decision to proceed with the match was taken after Harte expressed the wish that the players should turn out for the first game in the 2010 campaign.
“The only thing that will prevent that happening is the remains coming home or a possible funeral,” said Tyrone spokesman Damian Harvey. “Mickey Harte has given his blessing for Tyrone GAA activities to continue.”
