The death of a Cork man, whose car plunged into the River Lee, was an accident which resulted from a tyre blow-out, an inquest decided yesterday.

Mr Kieran O'Flynn (31), of Kiltegan Crescent, Rochestown Road, Cork, drowned after his BMW went out of control at The Marina on December 30th last.

Mr Kieran McCarthy, solicitor for the O'Flynn family, said the stretch of roadway along the Marina was unsafe. Barriers should be erected along the river in order to prevent other such accidents.
