Two British men today appeared in court in connection with a massive drugs seizure in Dublin.
Paul Morgan, 24, and Francis McConlough, 22, both from Liverpool have been charged under their Misuse of Drugs Act following the discovery of €3 million worth of heroin and cocaine on Friday night.
Judge James Scally, sitting at Dublin District Court, remanded both men in custody until Friday.
Detective garda Willie Armstrong said the men were in a van near Blanchardstown when it was stopped by officers.
No drugs were found in the van, which had been adapted to carry drugs, but investigations led them to a hotel car park in Howth where the haul was discovered in a second van.
Morgan of Hathersage Road in Huyton and McConlough of Chestnut Road, Liverpool were officially arrested in Blanchardstown yesterday.
Each was charged with possession of heroin and cocaine and possession with intent to supply both drugs.
Neither made any reply to the charges. Judge Scally refused legal aid. He also refused bail on the grounds investigations are continuing over McConlough's true identification.
The drugs operation was spearheaded by Detective Chief Superintendent Cormac Gordon and Detective Inspector Colin Featherstone.
