Two PSNI officers were injured when they were attacked by up to 30 people in west Belfast earlier today.

Two PSNI officers were injured when they were attacked by up to 30 people in west Belfast earlier today.

One officer suffered a broken jaw and was stabbed in the arm while the other sustained bruising to his back in the incident on Whiterock Road at 2am.

They were attacked in their patrol car by up to 30 people after they stopped to speak to a man who had approached them.

"Officers are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made," a PSNI spokesperson said.
