Two pedestrians die in Wexford, Sligo crashes

A woman (35) has died after she was hit by a truck in Co Wexford this lunchtime.

A woman (35) has died after she was hit by a truck in Co Wexford this lunchtime.

She was hit by the truck on Gorey's main street at 1pm, said gardaí, who are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Earlier, a 16-year-old girl was killed and another injured after they were struck by a car in Co Sligo this morning.

The two girls were waiting at a bus stop on the Bundoran to Sligo road at Moneygold, Grange, Co Sligo, between 8am and 8.30am.

The injured girl and the driver of the car were taken to Sligo General Hospital. Sligo gardaí are investigating.

The latest deaths bring the number of people killed on the State's roads this year to 380, which is nine more that last year's total for the whole year.
