Two men were wounded in separate paramilitary-style "punishment" shootings in Belfast yesterday.

In east Belfast, a 36-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the hands and legs in Millford Drive in the Tullycarnet area of the city at 10.30 p.m.

Earlier, a man in his forties was chased by four men from his house in Glenwood Green, Poleglass, west Belfast, and shot him in each ankle.

Meanwhile, a man in his 40s is being treated for a broken arm and leg after he was attacked by a gang wielding iron bars in Lisburn, Co Antrim.

The masked assailants forced their way into a flat at Maralin Avenue before beating the victim.

The RUC are appealing for witnesses.
