Two men are being questioned by police in Northern Ireland about the murder of a man outside a bar in Belfast.

One of the men is reported to be a senior republican.

Robert McCartney (33), with an address in east Belfast, died from stab wounds following what is believed to have been a fight at 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Last night, police officers investigating the incident were attacked with bricks, bottles and stones during searches in the Markets area of Belfast.
