Two killed in weekend road accidents

A man in his 20s has been killed in a two-car collision near Enfield, County Meath.

The man was travelling in a car with a young woman on the Johnstown Road when the accident happened at 9.30am.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Blanchardstown Hospital for treatment. The male driver of the other car was also taken to hospital.

Yesterday, a woman in her 20s was killed in a road accident in County Tipperary at 7.30pm. The woman was the driver in a car which collided with another car with three occupants in Rathmore, on the N24 Cahir to Clonmel road.

The three survivors sustained minor injuries and were taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Cashel for treatment.

It brings the number of people killed on the roads this year to 326, and the number killed this month to 45.
