Gardaí have named the couple killed in a road accident in Limerick this morning.

Desmond Quinlan (33) and Clodagh Phelan (25), both of Killure, Waterford, were killed following a collision between a car and van this morning.

The crash, on the Limerick to Tipperary road between Dromkeen and Pallasgreen, happened at about 7.20 a.m. Two other people remain in a serious condition in hospital this evening.

Meanwhile, a car crash in Co Donegal overnight killed two men. Gardaí said the car in which the two victims were travelling overturned along the N13 at Listillionbetween Letterkenny and Ballybofey at about 9 p.m.

There were no other vehicles involved.

One man died at the scene; the other was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, where he died shortly afterwards. The men were in their 20s and early 30s.
