Two killed, four injured in Dundalk crash

Two men were killed and four people injured in a three vehicle collision near Dundalk, Co Louth early today.

Gardai said two cars and a jeep collided on the N1 motorway at Dowdallshill cemetery at about 4 a.m.

Two men, the drivers of the jeep and one of the cars, were killed in the accident. Gardai say the victims were in their thirties and forties. Four others, two men and two women, were injured in the crash.

Two of the four, a man and a woman, are believed to be in a critical condition in hospital.

The injured are being treated in Louth County Hospital in Dundalk and Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

The remaining two are both said to be in stable condition. Gardai have closed a section of the busy N1 road from the Lisdoo junction to the Ballymac roundabout and are examining the scene.
