Two held over Kildare drug seizure

Two men have been arrested following a drug seizure in Co Kildare this morning.

Two men have been arrested following a drug seizure in Co Kildare this morning.

One of the men, aged 32, was arrested shortly after 6.30am when gardaí stopped and searched a truck in Newbridge.

Gardaí recovered 2kg of cocaine worth an estimated €140,000 and 1kg of heroin worth €150,000. The man was taken to Newbridge Garda station where he is currently being held.

In a follow up search a 30 year old man was arrested at a house in Donaghmede, Dublin. He is being held in Coolock Garda station.

Both men are being detained under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996, and can be held for up to seven days.

Officers from the Organised Crime Unit, the Garda National Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Services were involved in the operation.
