Two for court over post office raid

Two men appeared in court this morning in connection with a post office robbery in Co Westmeath yesterday.

Two men appeared in court this morning in connection with a post office robbery in Co Westmeath yesterday.

The raid occurred at the post office in Tyrrellspass shortly before 9.30am yesterday.

A Garda spokesman said that two men armed with a knife and a sledgehammer entered the premises and threatened staff before leaving with an amount of cash. Nobody was injured during the raid.

Gardaí later arrested the two men in their 20s as part of a follow up operation.
