A male pedestrian was knocked down and killed this evening near Birr in Co Offaly. The man(72) was struck by a jeep in Crinkle at approximately 5.45pm.
The deceased was removed to Tullamore General hospital. In a separate incident a man in his 50s died when his car crashed into a bollard at Poplar Square in Naas.
