Cape Town - Two South African children under the age of 18 are being raped every hour of the day on average, the Safety and Security Minister, Mr Steve Tshwete, said.
In a parliamentary reply published yesterday, Mr Tshwete said a total of 8,683 children aged 18 or younger were raped in the first six months of last year. There were a further 254 cases of sodomy, 91 of incest and 1,922 indecent assaults.
