Two people appeared yesterday before Cork District Court in connection with the operation of a dump.

David Greenwood and his mother Ellen Greenwood of Greenwood Waste with an address at Sarsfield Estate, Glanmire, Cork, were charged with offences under Section 39 and Section 59 of the Waste Management Act.

The charges follow an investigation by Cork County Council officials into an alleged illegal dump in Glanmire.

The dump is located above the Glashaboy river and contained 100,000 tons of refuse.

Yesterday solicitor for the accused, Eddie Burke, applied that all statements be handed over to him.

Judge David Riordan granted the application and adjourned the case until May 23rd.
