Two young boys are being treated in hospital after being hit by a car in a Belfast hit-and-run incident.

The boys, aged 10 and 12, were riding their bicycles along East Bridge Street in the city centre when they were hit by a car at around 8.00 pm this evening,

A PSNI spokeswoman said the car was grey or silver, and drove off without stopping. It may have damage to its bumpers or windscreen, she said. The police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

One of the children was said to be in a serious condition with head injuries in the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children, while the other boy is stable.
