A transatlantic passenger jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon Airport this morning following an alleged air-rage incident.

The American Airlines plane was en route to London  Heathrow from New York's JFK airport when it was diverted to Shannon. The plane landed at 5.40 a.m. and gardaí boarded.

Two male Candian passengers in their forties were arrested and are to appear in Ennis District Court  today.
