Two arrested as security van robbery foiled

Two men were arrested in Newry, Co Down, this afternoon after police foiled a security van robbery.

Two men were arrested in Newry, Co Down, this afternoon after police foiled a security van robbery.

Police from the Organised Crime Squad made the arrests in conjunction with regular officers shortly after 1.30am.

The men were arrested at a filling station at the five ways roundabout on the Armagh Road in Newry. It is believed the men attempted a heist on security guards as they made a delivery to the filling station.

They were carrying a wheel-brace and a hand-gun. No one was injured during the incident.
