Gardaí in Cork are attempting to track down two raiders involved in separate incidents in the city.
One raider held up two employees of a shop as they were returning with cash from a bank in north Cork shortly after 1pm on Friday on the Kanturk to Boherbue Road.
The man and woman were flagged down by a young man they thought was a motorist who had been involved in an accident, only to have a gun pointed at their heads.
The man produced what appeared to be a firearm and threatened them. He demanded they hand over the cash. He then tied them up and ran away with the money, understood to be more than €10,000. The man and woman were not harmed.
Gardaí are also continuing to investigate an attempted raid at the post office in St Luke’s in Cork city at noon on Friday. The raider, who was armed with a shotgun, was wearing a red hoodie and jeans. He fled after failing to steal money.
