Twenty-five people were killed when a bus overturned near Tehran today, Iran's state broadcaster reported.

The incident happened about 35 kilometres south of the Iranian capital on the highway to the city of Qom, it said, giving no further details.

Iran has one of the highest road accident rates in the world, blamed on inadequate police supervision, poor quality roads and reckless driving.
