MarchTV3 IS to drop Eastenders next March. The station cited "commercial reasons" for discontinuing the popular soap opera.

"After careful consideration, the reduced opportunities for advertising within this programme make it a financially less attractive option for a commercial television station," a TV3 spokes woman said.

TV3 showed the programme simultaneously with BBC and, as BBC did not carry an advertising break in the middle of the programme, TV3 also skipped the break, resulting in lost revenue.

However, TV3 said it was more than happy with viewership figures of between 100,000 and 150,000 per episode.
