ALTHOUGH St Patrick's Day is still a few days away, Dubliners got into the carnival spirit last night, dressing up in bright colours for the Irish Hospice Foundation's Mardi Gras party at the Pillar Room in the Rotunda. The dress code for the cheerful charity do was feathers, bikinis and little black dresses for the ladies, bright Hawaiian shirts, tuxes and lounge suits for the men.

Leading the parade of bright young ticket-holders were Charity Crewe, daughter of travel writer Quentin Crewe; Lady Alice Beresford, the Marquess of Waterford's daughter; PR person Caroline Kennedy and Pat Gunne, managing director of Gunne Property Consultants.
