Istanbul - A Turkish investor distraught over slumping prices on the Istanbul Stock Exchange went to his brokerage bank yesterday and shot a senior manager after a heated argument, the bank said.

A spokesman for the Turkish Industrial Development Bank said the securities manager, Mr Mehmet Yildirim, was recovering in hospital after the attack. Stocks have dropped some 25 per cent since the beginning of last week as interest rates have soared in a liquidity crisis.
