Ankara - The governor of a province in mainly Kurdish south-east Turkey was injured yesterday in a bomb attack, according to the Anatolian news agency. It said Governor Nihat Canpolat of Hakkari province "escaped with injuries" and two bodyguards were wounded.

Responsibility for another bomb attack against a southeastern governor earlier this week was admitted by Kurdish guerrillas loyal to the jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan.
