With a new CD (Melody on the Swiss TCB label) just released, the return of the excellent young American jazz pianist Lynne Arriale is bound to be doubly pleasurable for her fans, not least because she will again have her outstandingly sensitive drummer, Steve Davis, with her. But there is also an intriguingly fresh element in the trio, with the addition of the formidable and long-established British jazz and classical musician, bassist Malcolm Creese, whose credits range from George Benson, Clark Terry and Johnny Griffin on the jazz side, to the Halle Orchestra, the London Symphony and English Chamber orchestras in classical music. The trio play in Dublin at Renards on Wednesday and Thursday, and in Limerick at Jury's Hotel on Friday.
