IARNROD Eireann has started an inquiry into the death of a worker who was struck by a train yesterday at a level crossing in Ballydavid, Athenry, Co Galway.

Mrs Agnes Kennedy (65), a gatekeeper from Ballydavid, was closing a railway gate to road traffic when she was struck by the Galway to Dublin train at about 14.15 a.m. died at the scene.
