Traders in Galway city have called for the rapid introduction of new sewers, water-pipes and paving to the pedestrian zone. The works in the Shop Street-William Street area are due to be carried out at the end of the peak tourist season.
"We want the corporation to work seven days a week, round the clock, because if they put on an ordinary shift for five days per week they would be there until the cows come home," a spokesman for the traders, Mr Ray O'Brien, said yesterday.
