European captain Sam Torrance said today he is not concerned by the poor form shown by team members ahead of next month's Ryder Cup at The Belfry.
A dismal performance at the USPGA Championship - with Sergio Garcia and Pierre Fulke the best-placed Europeans in 10th - has raised questions about the European side.
Of greater concern is that Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and Thomas Bjorn all missed the cut and appear to be some way off form.
But Torrance maintained the USPGA has never been a happy hunting ground for Europeans and that the atmosphere of the Ryder Cup made it an entirely unique event.
"It (the USPGA) is always hot and humid and over the years we've not performed that well so I'm not going to look that deeply into it. It's always a tough one for us," he told BBC Radio 5 Live:
"They've (the States) had quite a few players struggling and we're certainly not in a worse position than they are.
"(David) Duval, (Hal) Sutton and (Paul) Azinger are struggling, but with the excitement of the cup, it can lift you from the depths of despair to the heights of your game."
