Racing: Kauto Star and Denman remain on target for their mouthwatering clash in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup after both stood their ground at the latest forfeit stage.

The Paul Nicholls-trained pair spearhead the list of 34 horses still engaged after a total of eight were removed, among which there were no major surprises.

Dom D'Orgeval, In Compliance, Madison Du Berlais, Mister Top Notch, Offshore Account, Our Vic, Strong Flow and Tamarinbleu are the defectors, with connections of the latter mulling their Festival options.

Tamarinbleu beat Twist Magic - ante-post favourite for the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase - at Ascot last month, but could take in the two-miler or instead run in the Ryanair Chase.

"Tamarinbleu will run in either the Queen Mother Chase or the Ryanair Chase," confirmed trainer David Pipe. "A decision will be made closer to the time but he's in good form. They're both going to be hot races."

As well as stabling Kauto Star and Denman, Nicholls also has Gungadu, Neptune Collonges, Star De Mohaison and Turko still in the Gold Cup.
