Procter and Gamble is to lay off 75 temporary staff its manufacturing plant in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary as part of a seasonal change to its workforce, the firm said today.

A company spokeswoman said 15 people were being laid off immediately with a further 60 longer-term temporary staff being let go shortly.

She said the changes were due to seasonal work practices and that the Nenagh plant remained an important part of the company's manufacturing base.

The company employs 500 people at its Nenagh site manufactures make-up and toiletry products.
