England centre Mike Tindall will undergo a further scan after X-rays showed he did not break his leg in Bath's premiership game against Saracens yesterday.
"There was no break although the scan did show he had an unstable ankle," a Bath spokesman said.
Tindall, a member of England's World Cup winning team, was carried from the field on a stretcher after landing awkwardly while scoring Bath's first try.
"We won't speculate on how long he might be out of action until after the second scan," the spokesman added.
