London - The pub trade yesterday welcomed government plans to overhaul "outdated" licensing laws in reforms which look set to end the traditional 11 p.m. closing time.

Instead of the 11 p.m. last orders, most pubs will be allowed to stay open until midnight or 1 a.m. In cities, the deadline for drinking up will be 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.
