A 54-year-old woman has died after being hit by a truck in Kells Co Meath this morning.
She was pronounced dead at the scene on Castle Street in the town at 11 a.m. and taken to Navan General Hospital, where a post mortem will take place.
Earlier, gardai appealed for witnesses to an incident which left a women in her seventies dead yesterday. 72-year-old Kathleen Smith died from her injuries in James's Hospital after she was hit by a lorry at 1 p.m. on Merchants Quay in Dublin. She was from Navan, Co Meath.
In Co Laois yesterday, 79-year-old Masie Conneran died after a two-car crash at Tankardstown at 6 p.m. She was the driver and only occupant of one of the cars. She had an address in Athy, Co Kildare.
The latest deaths bring to 335 the number of people killed on the State's roads so far this year, just one less than for all of 2003.
