A 66-year-old Greek charged with possessing drugs with a street value of £340,000 in Wexford told a special court last night that he had no knowledge of what he was carrying in a car. Mr Georgios Stavrou, of Arodene Road, London, was one of three non-nationals brought before a special sitting of Wicklow District Court in relation to the drugs seizure in a car at Ballina, Ballymurn, Co Wexford, last Sunday.

The other men before the court were Mr Wolfgang Hausgell (50), an Austrian with an address at Ballina, Ballymurn, and Mr Raymond John Stephens (47), of Herbert Square, Mitchum, Surrey. All three were charged with unlawful possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling at Ballymurn on April 13th. They were remanded in custody to Arklow Court next Monday.
