Three people have been killed in separate road crashes last night and early this morning.

A 19-year-old woman was killed when the van in which she was a passenger struck a bullock at Barntick, Clarecastle, Co. Clare at 10.30pm last night. The male driver sustained minor injuries.

Both parties were taken to Ennis General Hospital, where the female was later pronounced dead.

Earlier a 24-year-old man died when his motorbike left the road and hit a wall at Knockaconny, Monaghan. The incident happened some time before 9.45 p.m. on the main Monaghan to Armagh road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Cavan General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A 20-year-old woman was killed when her car left the road and hit a ditch at Creggconnell, Rosses Point, Sligo. The. A female passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash which happened at around 4 a.m. this morning.

The body of the victim has been removed to Sligo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
