Three people have been killed in separate crashes on the country’s roads overnight.
A woman (30) passenger died when the car she was travelling in collided with a truck in Co Kilkenny at 7.15am on the N9 Waterford to Kilkenny road at Ballyhale. Gardai named her this evening as Yasmine Essan from Ardkeen Village in Waterford City.
Earlier in Co Kilkenny a 16-year-old boy was killed in a single vehicle crash. He was a passenger in a car which left the road and hit a tree on the N76 Kilkenny to Clonmel road at Cuffesgrange shortly after 5.30am.
The driver and a front seat passenger were also injured in the crash and are being treated at Kilkenny hospital.
AA Roadwatch has warned the road will be closed for most of the day.
A man (33) was killed last night in a single-vehicle crash in Co Kildare. He was a passenger in a car which left the road and hit a fence at Cromwellstown, Kilteel near Naas at 8.20pm. The victim was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead some time later.
Two other men, the driver and another passenger, were uninjured in the crash. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the blue BMW between Kiteel and Cromwellstown Cross prior to the incident is asked to contact Naas Garda station.
Elsewhere in Co Donegal, the N56 Creeslough to Dunfanaghy road is closed until further notice following a crash north of Creeslough. Diversions are in place.
Gardaí are also dealing with a crash about 1.5km north of Ballymote on the R293. Motorists are advised to use the old Sligo road as an alternative route.
