One Indian army officer and two civilians, including a mother and her 10-year-old daughter, were killed after three Muslim militants on a suicide mission attacked a military camp in Kashmir yesterday.
Soldiers at the Khanabal camp, 30 miles south of Srinagar, fired rockets and mortars at the building held by the militants before finally blowing it up with explosives shortly after first light, killing all three insurgents after the night-long operation.
The three militants, s decade-old civil war for an Islamic homeland-dressed in military fatigues, alighted from a van outside the army camp on a busy highway late on Wednesday evening, indiscriminately firing their assault rifles and hurling grenades.
