Three German teenagers were injured when a gang of youths stoned their bus in east Belfast, police said today.

The youngsters were part of a visiting exchange group that had just left the Dundonald Ice Bowl when the vehicle came under attack on the nearby King‘s Road in Tullycarnet last night.

The school children sustained superficial cuts from flying glass after two windows were smashed around 9.30pm.

Alliance councillor Judith Cochrane condemned those responsible.

“I am appalled that someone would stoop so low as to carry out an attack like this,” she said.

“This must have been very frightening for those on the bus and I want to wish those hurt in this incident a quick recovery from their injuries.

“A large amount of money has been invested in the area to attract tourists and this incident is deeply destructive.

“Those involved in this attack must be brought to justice to send out a strong message about attacks like this.

“People in the area will be disgusted that this has happened and anyone with information on this should contact police immediately.” Police urged any witnesses to come forward.
