Three men have appeared before the courts in connection with the seizure of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €2.5 million. The drugs were found in a car carrying the three men in Rathcoole, Co Dublin, at around 2pm on Monday.

The men, aged 39, 38 and 21, were taken to Clondalkin Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

They were held there until yesterday afternoon when they appeared before Dublin District Court. They were charged under sections 2 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act in relation to the possession of drugs for their personal use and for sale or supply.

Two other men were still being questioned by gardaí last night in relation to the seizure. The men, aged 25 and 28, were being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at Ballyfermot Garda station.

They were arrested during searches in the Finglas and Cabra areas.
