Gardaí in Co Kildare have arrested three men connection with the abduction of a security company employee and his family in April last year.

The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested in Dublin earlier today and are being held separately in Naas, Newbridge and Leixlip Garda stations.

They are being questioned in relation to the abduction of Martin Lambe, who works as a driver for security company G4S Cash Solutions, his wife Sharon, who was pregnant at the time, and their two-year-old son in their home in Kilmeade, Co Kildare in early hours of April 27th last.

Mr Lambe and his family were taken hostage by a gang of four masked men as he was preparing to leave for work.

However, the gang fled when Mr Lambe's wife activated a panic alarm in the house, alerting gardaí to the incident.

The raiders fled the scene on foot, abandoning a white transit-style van parked outside the Lambe family home. Gardaí believe the raiders may have been picked up by a car nearby.

The three men arrested today are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 and can be held for up to seven days.
