The cigarettes entered the country in a container at Dublin Port a number of days ago and this afternoon Gardaí and Customs officials intervened as they were being loaded from the container onto a flat top truck at Greenogue Business park, Newcastle, Co. Dublin.

Two men, both aged 44, and another man (38) were arrested at the scene and are being held at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The seizure had an approximate street value of €860,000 with an estimated potential loss to revenue of €500,000.
